In This part 7 of English Grammar in Urdu Series. We are going to learn about Present Perfect Tense, It’s Definition example and deferent forms Like: Negative form & Interrogative Form. With sentences, more examples in Urdu.

What is Present Perfect Tense?

The present perfect tense is used to describe actions that happened at an unspecified time in the past or that started in the past and continue up to the present. It is formed using the present tense of the auxiliary verb “to have” (have, has) and the past participle of the main verb.

موجودہ کامل زمانہ ان افعال کو بیان کرنے کے لیے استعمال کیا جاتا ہے جو ماضی میں کسی غیر متعینہ وقت پر ہوا یا جو ماضی میں شروع ہوا اور حال تک جاری رہے۔

Subject + Have/Has + Verb 3rd (Past-Participle) + Object
I have finished my homework.
Here are five examples of the present perfect tense:
  1. I have finished my homework. (میں نے اپنا ہوم ورک مکمل کر لیا ہے۔)
  2. She has visited Paris before. (وہ اس سے پہلے پیرس کا دورہ کر چکی ہیں۔)
  3. We have eaten dinner at that restaurant many times. (ہم نے کئی بار اس ریستوراں میں رات کا کھانا کھایا ہے۔)
  4. John has worked here for five years. (جان نے یہاں پانچ سال کام کیا ہے۔)
  5. They have studied English for a long time. (انہوں نے ایک طویل عرصے سے انگریزی کا مطالعہ کیا ہے۔)

Note:- that the present perfect tense is often used with time expressions such as “already,” “just,” “yet,” and “never” to indicate when the action occurred or to ask about it, such as “Have you finished your dinner yet?”


Present Perfect Negative Tense

The present perfect negative tense is used to describe actions that have not occurred up until the present time. It is formed by using the auxiliary verb “to have” (have/has) in the negative form, and adding the past participle of the main verb.

موجودہ کامل منفی زمانہ ان اعمال کی وضاحت کے لیے استعمال ہوتا ہے جو موجودہ وقت تک نہیں ہوئے ہیں۔

Subject + Have/Has +Not + Verb 3rd (Past-Participle) + Object
I have not finished my lunch yet
Here are five examples of the present perfect negative tense:
  1. I have not finished my lunch yet. (میں نے ابھی دوپہر کا کھانا ختم نہیں کیا ہے۔)
  2. She has not visited Paris before. (اس نے پہلے پیرس کا دورہ نہیں کیا۔)
  3. We have not eaten at that restaurant yet. (ہم نے ابھی تک اس ریستوراں میں کھانا نہیں کھایا)
  4. He has not worked here for long. (اس نے طویل عرصے سے یہاں کام نہیں کیا ہے۔)
  5. They have not studied English for very long. (انہوں نے بہت عرصے سے انگریزی نہیں پڑھی ہے۔)

Note:- that the present perfect negative tense can also be used to indicate that an action has not occurred within a specific time frame, such as “I have not seen him this week.”


Present Perfect Interrogative Tense

The present perfect interrogative tense is used to ask questions about actions that occurred at an unspecified time in the past or that started in the past and continue up to the present. It is formed by inverting the auxiliary verb “to have” (have/has) and the subject of the sentence, and adding the past participle of the main verb.

موجودہ کامل پوچھ گچھ کا زمانہ ان افعال کے بارے میں سوالات پوچھنے کے لیے استعمال کیا جاتا ہے جو ماضی میں کسی غیر متعینہ وقت پر ہوئے یا ماضی میں شروع ہوئے اور حال تک جاری رہیں۔

Subject + Have/Has + Verb 3rd (Past-Participle) + Object
Have you finished your homework?

Here are five examples of the present perfect interrogative tense:
  1. Have you finished your homework? (کیا آپ نے اپنا ہوم ورک مکمل کر لیا ہے؟)
  2. Has she visited Paris before? (کیا اس نے پہلے پیرس کا دورہ کیا ہے؟)
  3. Have We eaten at that restaurant? (کیا ہم نے اس ریستوراں میں کھانا کھایا ہے؟)
  4. Has he worked here for long? (کیا اس نے یہاں طویل عرصے سے کام کیا ہے؟)
  5. Have they studied English for a long time? (کیا انہوں نے طویل عرصے سے انگریزی پڑھی ہے؟)

Note:- that the present perfect interrogative tense is often used with time expressions such as “already,” “just,” “yet,” and “never” to ask about the completion of an action or to indicate when the action occurred, such as “Have you ever been to New York City?”
