Verb (فعل)

A verb (فعل) is a word or a combination of words that indicates (نشاندہی) action or a state of being or condition. A verb is the part (حصہ) of a sentence that tells (بتاتا) us what the subject performs. Verbs are the hearts (دل) of English sentences.

فعل ایک لفظ یا الفاظ کا مجموعہ ہے جو عمل یا حالت یا حالت کی نشاندہی کرتا ہے۔ فعل ایک جملے کا وہ حصہ ہے جو ہمیں بتاتا ہے کہ مضمون کیا انجام دیتا ہے۔ فعل انگریزی جملوں کے دل ہیں۔

Examples:

Jacob walks in the morning. (A usual action). : جیکب صبح کو چلتا ہے۔ (ایک معمول کی کارروائی)۔

Mike is going to school. (A condition of action). : مائیک سکول جا رہا ہے۔ (عمل کی شرط)

Albert does not like to walk. (A negative action) : البرٹ کو چلنا پسند نہیں ہے۔ (ایک منفی عمل)

Anna is a good girl. (A state of being) : اینا ایک اچھی لڑکی ہے۔ (ہونے کی حالت)

Basic Forms of Verbs:

There are six basic forms of verbs. These forms are as follows:

• Base form (بیس فارم): Children play in the field.
• Infinitive (غیرمعمولی): Tell them not to play
• Past tense (فعل ماضی): They played football yesterday.
• Past participle (ماضی کردنت): I have eaten a burger.
• Present participle (حاضر شریک): I saw them playing with him today.
• Gerund: Swimming is the best exercise.

Linking Verb (ڳنڍڻ وارو فعل):

A linking verb (لنک کرنے ) adds details (تفصیلات) about the subject of a sentence. In its simplest (آسان ترین) form, it connects the subject and the complement (پیروی) — that is, the words that follow the linking verb ( لنک کرنے والے فعل). It creates a link between (درمیان) them instead of showing action (عمل).

لنک کرنے والا فعل کسی جملے کے موضوع کے بارے میں تفصیلات شامل کرتا ہے۔ اس کی آسان ترین شکل میں، یہ موضوع اور تکمیل کو جوڑتا ہے – یعنی وہ الفاظ جو لنک کرنے والے فعل کی پیروی کرتے ہیں۔ یہ عمل دکھانے کے بجائے ان کے درمیان ربط پیدا کرتا ہے۔

Examples:

Act, feel, remain, appear, become, seem, smell, sound, grow, look, prove, stay, taste, turn.

• She appears ready for the game. (She is ready for the game.) : وہ گیم کے لیے تیار دکھائی دیتی ہے۔ (وہ گیم کے لیے تیار ہے۔)
• The food seemed delicious. (The food was delicious.) کھانا مزیدار لگ رہا تھا۔ (کھانا بہت لذیز تھا.)
• You look happy. (You are happy.): آپ خوش نظر آتے ہیں. (تم خوش ہو.)

Modal Verbs (موڈل فعل):

A modal verb (موڈل فعل)  is a kind of auxiliary verb (معاون فعل). It assists the main verb to indicate(شاندہی) possibility (توقع), potentiality, ability (قابلیت), permission (اجازت), expectation, and obligation (ذمہ داری).

ایک موڈل فعل ایک قسم کا معاون فعل ہے۔ یہ امکان، صلاحیت، قابلیت، اجازت، توقع، اور ذمہ داری کی نشاندہی کرنے کے لیے مرکزی فعل کی مدد کرتا ہے۔

The modal verbs are:

• Can, کر سکتے ہیں
• Could , کر سکتا تھا
• Must, ضروری ہے
• May, ہو سکتا ہے
• Might, ہو سکتا ہے
• Ought to,شاید
• Shall, کرے گا
• Should, چاہیے
• Will, کرے گا
• Would.کرے گا

Examples:

I may want to talk to you again. میں آپ سے دوبارہ بات کرنا چاہتا ہوں۔

They must play their best game to win. انہیں جیتنے کے لیے اپنا بہترین کھیل کھیلنا ہوگا۔

She should call him. اسے اسے کال کرنا چاہیے۔

I will go there. میں وہاں جاؤنگا.

Auxiliary Verbs (امدادی افعال)

Auxiliary verb (امدادی افعال) , also known as helping verbs (مددگار فعل), are verbs that are used together with a main verb ( اہم فعل) to form a complete verb phrase. They are used to express (اظہار) various meanings such as tense, aspect ( تناؤ), modality (پہلو), and voice (آواز). Here are some common (عام) auxiliary verbs in English with.

معاون فعل (امدادی افعال)، جسے مددگار فعل بھی کہا جاتا ہے، وہ فعل ہیں جو ایک مکمل فعل کا جملہ بنانے کے لیے ایک اہم فعل کے ساتھ استعمال ہوتے ہیں۔ ان کا استعمال مختلف معانی کے اظہار کے لیے کیا جاتا ہے جیسے کہ تناؤ، پہلو، وضع اور آواز۔ یہاں انگریزی میں کچھ عام معاون فعل ہیں۔

Examples:

1. Verbs present tense form main:

• Do you like ice cream? (do is the auxiliary verb): کیا آپ کو آئسکریم پسند ہے؟ (do معاون فعل ہے)
• She doesn’t eat meat. (does is the auxiliary verb): وہ گوشت نہیں کھاتی۔ (does معاون فعل ہے)
• We are going to the beach. (are is the auxiliary verb) : ہم ساحل سمندر پر جا رہے ہیں۔ (ہے معاون فعل ہے)

2. Verbs past tense form main:

• I was studying for my exam. (was is the auxiliary verb) میں اپنے امتحان کے لیے پڑھ رہا تھا۔ (was معاون فعل ہے)
• They had finished their homework. (had is the auxiliary verb): وہ اپنا ہوم ورک مکمل کر چکے تھے۔ (had معاون فعل ہے)
• She was not feeling well. (was is the auxiliary verb): اس کی طبیعت ٹھیک نہیں تھی۔ (was معاون فعل ہے)

3. Verbs future tense ki form main:

• I will call you later. (will is the auxiliary verb): میں آپ کو بعد میں کال کرتا ہوں. (Will معاون فعل ہے)
• They are going to attend the conference. (are is the auxiliary verb): وہ کانفرنس میں شرکت کے لیے جا رہے ہیں۔ (are معاون فعل ہے)
• She may come to the party. (may is the auxiliary verb): وہ پارٹی میں آ سکتی ہے۔ (may معاون فعل ہے)

4. Verbs express Karne ke modality Ko:

• He should study harder. (should is the auxiliary verb): اسے زیادہ محنت سے مطالعہ کرنا چاہیے۔ (معاون فعل ہونا Should)
• They can speak Spanish fluently. (can is the auxiliary verb): وہ روانی سے ہسپانوی بول سکتے ہیں۔ (can معاون فعل ہے)
• She must finish the project by tomorrow. (must is the auxiliary verb): اسے کل تک پراجیکٹ مکمل کرنا ہوگا۔ (must معاون فعل ہے)

5. Verbs passive voice form main:

• The cake was baked by my mom. (was is the auxiliary verb): کیک میری ماں نے پکایا تھا۔ (was معاون فعل ہے)
• The report has been submitted to the manager. (has been is the auxiliary verb): رپورٹ منیجر کو ارسال کر دی گئی ہے۔ (has ہے معاون فعل ہے)
• The car will be repaired soon. (will be is the auxiliary verb): گاڑی کی جلد مرمت کر دی جائے گی۔ (will معاون فعل ہے)

These are just a few examples of the many auxiliary verbs (معاون فعل) that are used in English. It’s important to understand (سمجھنا ضروری ہے) their functions and how they are used to form complete verb phrases( اور یہ کہ وہ مکمل فعل کے جملے بنانے کے لیے کیسے استعمال ہوتے ہیں ).
